The Ridges vineyard is comprised of three very different ridge sites situated just four and one half miles from the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard is a southwest-facing slope with three acres dedicated to Pinot Noir. Set back just far enough from the coast to enjoy ripening sunlight, yet still close enough to feel the cooling effects of the coastal fog, this vineyard yields excellent fruit and a compelling, well-balanced wine.
This is a blend of select fruit from throughout the county, with a particular focus on the Russian River Valley. Our appellation blends allow us to interweave the solo voices of each vineyard into a harmonious chorus. The is Red Label cuvée showcases the generosity and balance of Sonoma County Pinot Noir, combining ripe fruit, expressive earth and fresh acidity. Anticipate bright red cherry aromas underscored by earthy, woodsy notes and a hint of black olive.
Dark fruit, rose petal and hints of spicy oak greet the nose while expansive blackberry, mushroom, and dried herbs build on the palate. e mouthfeel is creamy and persistent with textured tannins framing the lush fruit through a long, balanced finish.
Smooth and creamy on the nose with high wafts of straw, tobacco, and smoked meat, our 2009 Ceremonial Vineyard Pinot Noir is rich with fruit, herbs, and loamy notes. The palate is lush with raspberry and cherry maturing into dense black cherry and cherry syrup with earthy mushroom and caramelized oak. The abundant fruit lasts through the finish with hints of sea salt playing on the palate. Overall, a beautiful expression of the richness and complexity of this Russian River site.
The Hein Family Vineyard has consistently produced superior Pinot Noir from the western edge of the Anderson Valley. This western location is cooler than other parts of the region because of its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. Rows are configured in a south/southwest orientation, which ensures evenly ripened fruit. The Hein Family Vineyard team is incredibly dedicated and scrupulous in their organic farming practices. Yielding just two tons per acre in a typical vintage, the fruit expresses black cherry, cranberry, earth and fine-grained tannins.
