The Hein Family Vineyard has consistently produced superior Pinot Noir from the western edge of the Anderson Valley. This western location is cooler than other parts of the region because of its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. Rows are configured in a south/southwest orientation, which ensures evenly ripened fruit. The Hein Family Vineyard team is incredibly dedicated and scrupulous in their organic farming practices. Yielding just two tons per acre in a typical vintage, the fruit expresses black cherry, cranberry, earth and fine-grained tannins.

Complex and dark, our Griffin’s Lair Pinot Noir shows off the classic character of this Sonoma Coast vineyard. The aromatic profile is full of dark, foresty scents and a meaty, savory character with just enough eucalyptus, fennel, and mint to add lift. Bright fruit on the palate joins the darker tones from the nose, providing a broad mouthfeel that stretches through a lingering finish of currant, earth tones, and leather.
Aromas of tropical fruit and caramel-touched citrus evolve into lychee and powdered candy on the nose of our Big Bend Chardonnay. The fruit-forward palate opens with flavors of stone fruit and expands to embrace hints of pineapple and a touch of mango which are balanced by a light woodiness and minerality. Delicate cotton candy flavors and a light creaminess weave their way into the palate and continue through a crisp, fruity finish that is rounded out by warm toasted oak.
This wine opens with an expressive nose that resolves into floral blackberry, mint, spice, rich cherry, and cola, all stitched together with a background of minerality. The aromas expand to include rich hints of cured meats and sweet molasses drifting in and out of the floral blackberry notes with additional fruit layers of light strawberry. The mineral quality carries through to the palate, supported by soft, mouth-coating tannins. With further breathing, the finish lengthens to include spicy oak and nuances of black licorice and violet pastilles.
