Our Peregrine Pinot Noir is a blended wine from vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA of Santa Barbara County. The Sta. Rita Hills appellation (pronounced Santa Rita Hills) is a cool-climate growing region, which produces fantastic Pinot Noir (as well as Chardonnay and Syrah). It is almost entirely contained within the larger Santa Ynez Valley AVA and stretches between Lompoq and Buellton in a series of rolling east-west hills. Coastal fog and winds influence the climate and cool the area, yielding concentrated fruit and wines with complexity and excellent structure. We named this wine for the peregrine falcons which call the region home and which soar on the very winds which make the region so excellent for Pinot. |
