2005 Blue Jay Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

The Philo area of Anderson Valley is a one of our favorite growing regions for Pinot Noir, and in our 2005 Bluejay Pinot Noir, you can see why. The nose is deep and brooding with hints of spice, soy, and vanilla. The depth of the aromatics is borne out by a dark fruit palate of plums, cola, and black cherry, held together by a backbone of tannins and integrated oak. Hints of toast appear on the nose over time, as well as a rich earthiness which gives an overall sense of texture to the aromatics. This wine will open up nicely over the next few years, but its well-rounded palate will win fans for early drinking as well.
