The Widdoes Vineyard is owned by Shirley & Don Widdoes, whose family has owned the property for many years. Shirley had worked with Warren Dutton, and decided to lease the property to the Dutton's, who planted the vineyard nearly 20 years ago and have continued to farm it ever since. It is located between Graton and Occidental, in the small micro-climate zone of Green Valley in the Russian River Valley on slightly rolling, Goldridge soils (fine sandy loam with a bit heavier clay influence) with relatively cool climate. The 18 year-old vines were all planted to the Beringer clone and are dry-farmed, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly and gain terrific concentration. Wines produced from this vineyard express an earthy character and classic Russian River fruit with tremendous depth and complexity.
